City of Centralia Seeks Transmission Service On The Grain Belt Express

The Centralia Board of Aldermen voted to become the latest Missouri municipal utility to move forward with negotiating long-term transmission service on the Grain Belt Express Clean Line. If approved by the Missouri Public Service Commission, the Grain Belt Express project could save participating municipal utility customers, including Centralia, at least $10 million per year. - 08/30/2016

Fortune 500 Companies, Energy Consumers Across Missouri Back the Grain Belt Express Application

With the support of municipal utilities and ratepayers from across Missouri, the Grain Belt Express Clean Line today filed an application with the Missouri Public Service Commission for approval to bring low-cost wind energy to the state. The filing comes on the heels of Governor Jay Nixon’s announcement of support for the Grain Belt Express project and an agreement announced earlier this month with a group of 67 Missouri municipalities that will save Missourians $10 million annually. - 06/30/2016

Fortune 500 Companies’ Letter to the Missouri Public Service Commission

Major manufacturers in Missouri including General Motors, Kellogg’s, Nestlé, Proctor & Gamble, Target and Unilever wrote a joint letter to the Missouri Public Service Commission expressing their support for the Grain Belt Express Clean Line, stating it will provide them increased access to affordable, renewable energy. - 06/30/2016

Gov. Jay Nixon today announced his support for the Grain Belt Express Clean Line. Citing new landowner protections and savings to consumers, Gov. Nixon says Grain Belt Express Clean Line is a good deal for Missouri. At Gov. Nixon’s request, Clean Line Energy has committed to a new set of industry-leading landowner protections that would be the first of its kind for a Missouri infrastructure project. The company estimates that it will pay more than $32 million to landowners who host the transmission line on their property. - 06/29/2016

Kirkwood Electric Agrees to Wind Energy Purchasing Arrangement

The Kirkwood City Council voted on June 16 to authorize Kirkwood Electric to negotiate the purchase of long-term transmission service from Grain Belt Express, at a cost savings to Kirkwood ratepayers. Grain Belt Express is an overhead power line company that will deliver low-cost wind energy to Missouri. - 06/21/2016

Missouri Municipalities Purchase Transmission Service On the Grain Belt Express Clean Line

On Thursday June 2, 2016, the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission (MJMEUC) approved a proposal to increase the public power agency’s renewable energy supply by purchasing long-term transmission service on the Grain Belt Express Clean Line transmission project. The agreement between the Grain Belt Express and MJMEUC, a public power agency that serves 67 municipalities throughout Missouri, is expected to save Missouri municipal ratepayers at least $10 million annually when the project becomes operational, according to an analysis performed by MJMEUC. - 06/3/2016

Illinois Commerce Commission Approves the Grain Belt Express Clean Line Transmission Project

The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) today approved an Order granting Clean Line Energy a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to construct and operate the Illinois portion of the 780-mile direct current Grain Belt Express Clean Line. The power line will deliver 4,000 megawatts of low-cost windpower to Illinois, Missouri, and neighboring states. - 11/12/2015
